-My name is Jessica Roder
-As of todays date 2-2-12 I am 19 years of age.
-I grew up in Merrill, Iowa.
-I am currently going to college at Northwest Iowa Community College for professional photography
-Considering I am only 19 you might be wondering how long I have been doing photography and I have been working on my skills for the past 9 years. I have been doing photography professionally for 4 years.
-I first got an interest in photography through 4-H, which some of you may not know what that is so I will explain. 4-H is simply kids 4th grade through high school senior who are in a 4-H club. There's meetings and all that boring stuff but the best part is when the county fair comes around and each kid enters projects, projects from food to art to woodworking to citizenship reports. It just so happens that the county I live in has some of the highest membership which makes the photography competition very high standards. One of the years I entered a photo of a shell on the beach. It had some sea weed with it but other than that it was just a simple clean photo. I got it judged and it got a grand champion! Which means it goes on to the state fair. Then at the state fair something happened that really showed me I could be good at this photography thing. Out of all the photos that make it to state fair there are 15 or so photos that are considered the "best" or photos that recieved "Professional Photographers of Iowa Gallery Award"...and there was my shell photo!
Random fun facts about me:
-I am 1 in a family of 4 including my mom, dad and younger brother.
-I love fourwheeling, boating, snowmobiling and taking photos of course!
-Favorite color is blue.....but a certain blue. Almost turquoise...more like sea blue!
-Favorite food is any kind of potatoes.
-I have worked as a hostess at a restuarant, lawn mower at Wal-mart, equipment operator for my dads construction company, cashier at Hy-Vee.
-I have a dog named Skooter.
-My birthday is in April.
-My favorite photo sessions would have to be seniors and newborns.
